Hot in the City!

South Park BasinThe entire Colorado front range has been getting baked in 100 degree temperatures for days now. So a sizeable group of RMRers that did not race in Crested Butte this weekend headed up to the high mountains to get away from the scorching heat. At least three groups of us convened on Carter Park in Breckenridge on Saturday to ride various sections of the Breckenridge 100 or the Firecracker 50. Chad Edwards and friends and myself took in the scenic fun loop of Boreas Pass, from Breck down through the valley on the Gold Rush trail to Como then back.

Even though we spent the day above 10,000 ft and the air temperatures were mostly in the 70s, it still felt pretty hot out! Here are a few pics I took when I could, most of the trail required two hands on the bars most of the way so the only photo ops were when we stopped to regroup or when Chad had the flat tire.
