Cat 1 XC/Endurance

 

Objective: Build on my successful 2011 season as I mature to the 40+ categories for endurance and cross country mountain bike racing in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

My 2012 mountain bike race season is building off a successful 2011 season. For 2012 I am racing with and co-managing the grass roots pro-am cycling team of Rocky Mountain Racing based in Golden Colorado. My dual role with Rocky Mountain Racing presents new opportunity to expand and leverage my passion for cycling.

 

First my role as a racer is to build off another year of fitness and skill I've developed over the past two years with the help of professional coaching. I intended to do a little less endurance racing and more cross country racing. Having more of a focus on cross country racing will help to improve my ranking at regional race series such as the Winter Park races. Although I do plan on also racing longer endurance races just not as many as I have done in 2011 and the focus of my training will be for XC racing. My initial focus will be local regional races, mostly in Colorado, but also in surrounding states. I have interest in a stage race or two.

 

My second role as a co-manager of Rocky Mountain Racing is to bring the team into the present with social media marketing and blogging. Even though the team is starting it's eight season with great sponsorships, the team is growing and so are the needs for resources. I will be focused with helping the team bring more value to the team sponsors by building and managing the team website and blogosphere as well as helping to draw in more resources for the team.

 

Outside of racing and team duties I will continue to participate in communities events such as Take A Kid Mountain Biking, group rides, vendor events, and community awareness.

 

Following are my tentative 2012 racing plans as a Cat. 1/Expert/40+ racer, as well as my 2011 and previous season results. As of this December 1, 2011 the schedule is not complete. In cases where endurance races overlap with XC races, XC races will take priority in most cases. Some races depend on if I am fast enough at the registration process! Early season my be adjusted as I recover from a late 2011 injury.
